Volunteer Shifts

*If you would like to Volunteer and be a Racer, your registration fee will be discounted to $15. You will register as a  Volunteer Racer and pick a  Volunteer Shift. After your shift is completed, you will pay the registration fee the day of the race, and be signed up for your desired Wave with your team.
In order to race for the Volunteer Fee of $15, you must complete at least one full shift in the categories below. If you register to work Post Race Tear Down/Clean Up and don’t show, you will be responsible for paying the difference in Volunteer Fee and Race Day Registration Fee.

Course Set-Up
Volunteers working on Friday will be responsible for helping mark the course, haul obstacle parts and supplies, assemble obstacles, put up signage, move brush and debris, and assist with other tasks as needed to prepare the park for Race Day.
Shift 1 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. 
Shift 2 1:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
**There will be a limited number of slots for Volunteers to come by after 5:00 p.m. and work until dark.


2.       REGISTRATION/FESTIVAL AREA:  Shift 6:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Volunteers working the registration area will be responsible for assisting race staff with handling packet pick-up, race day registration, answering questions, keeping lines in order, helping racers with bibs and armbands, policing up trash, as well as other tasks needed to keep the registration area running smoothly. Registration volunteers must be ages 16 and up.

3.       PARKING:  Shift 6:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.  
Parking Volunteers will be responsible for directing Race Day traffic to the correct parking area once they are in the park.  Volunteers must keep traffic moving to prevent back-ups. They will also assist with answering questions and providing directions to registration. Volunteers must be ages 18 and up. 

4.       START/FINISH AREA:  Shift 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.   
Volunteers in this area are responsible for working marking stations, helping racers stage and corral for their waves, help pump racers up before their wave, keep the finish line clear of people and obstacles to racers, cheer on finishers, distribute finisher medals, help track Endurance Challenge racers, distribute Finisher shirts, direct racers to photo stations and other tasks as necessary to keep the Start/Finish area running smoothly. **Volunteers must be ages 14 and up. **
5.       OBSTACLE MONITORS:  Shift 7:00 a.m - 12:30 p.m.  
Obstacle Monitors are responsible for making sure the obstacles stay in safe condition. They are responsible for explaining to racers rules for obstacle completion and enforcing penalties for Elite and Endurance racers. They are responsible for reporting the bib number of any Elite or Endurance racer that fails to complete penalties. They are responsible for calling for assistance in the case of injuries at their obstacle. Obstacle Monitors must be ages 18 and up and must have an outgoing personality.

6.       COURSE MONITORS:  Shift 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
Course monitors are responsible for helping direct traffic on the course so that no one gets lost. They are responsible for calling in the bib number of anyone they notice cutting corners or cheating. They are responsible for keeping spectators clear of obstacles and racers. They are responsible for answering questions and calling for assistance in the case of injuries.  Monitors must be ages 14 and up.
COURSE TEAR DOWN AND CLEAN UP: Shift 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m   
Volunteers are responsible for assisting in disassembling obstacles, taking down course marking and signage, carrying equipment back to staging area, cleaning up trash and debris, and helping make sure the park is restored to the condition it was pre-race.
